Late last year Physiotherapists Aged Care (PCare) entered into an agreement with the Faculty of Science and Health at Charles Sturt University to assist their physiotherapy student placements. PCare’s client partners, Cranbrook Care and CEO, Lee Carissa, and PCare’s GM, Peter Phillips, enthusiastically embraced the program. This program not only provides an opportunity for students to learn but also expose them to the wonderful opportunities in aged care. 

The Aged Care sector is traditionally not the first thought for new graduates in establishing their careers but Lee and Peter hope to change the perceptions of physiotherapy students, and help provide insight into the benefits they can bring to aged care and the personal rewards they will experience in the ensuing years.

Aged Care is a challenging environment at times but what better way to introduce students to aged care with the help of experienced physiotherapists at PCare and at the world class residential aged care residences at Cranbrook Care.  This year we will assist a student every month at one of Cranbrook Care’s homes. We are helping future graduates by showcasing the opportunities available in aged care. We hope these initiatives encourage the next generation of physiotherapists to consider a rewarding and noble career in aged care.
